Mermaids
was steered by the one time youngest PADI course director in the world. Stephen
Blumenthal - renowned in South East Asia had taught over 1100 IDC students.
Steve built the incredible Dive Career Development Program (internships)
that will continue in his name. Steve's passing now leaves our direction and path beaten with 2 course
directors taking control of the IDC programs.

Mermaids is the ONLY
Pattaya dive center to privately own/lease and operate 4 dive boats daily
– (own 3 - permanently lease 1). We do not allow any other companies or freelancing instruction
personnel on our boats – why extend your day unnecessarily? Mermaid's
doesn't believe in overcrowding one large dive boat. We have 4 boats so that
all of our trips go to different destinations and divers can enjoy smaller
groups, more supervision and better diving. This also gives all of our
interns the chance to help in supervising dive trips. There is no substitute
for the real life experience you get at Mermaid's LIA. DAN
O2 units providing pure O2 are standard on all 4 Mermaid’s Dive boats for
emergencies!

Mermaids was the first National Geographic Diver
center in Pattaya - again
another high dive center status offered through PADI to dive centers that
make the grade.

EFRI (Emergency
First Response Instructor rating is offered as standard with all
Divemaster and OWSI internships. This is not a bonus course.

Dive Center care enough about our professional divers to place as much
emphasis on our dive job placement service as any other part of the program.
Scuba diving work is what we are training for and hence this is just as
important as any part of the training. An exclusive service is offered to
all Mermaids dive interns offering the best opportunity for dive employment possible.

of Asia. We regularly offer DSAT, PSAI, IANTD, ANDI and

Mermaid's
Dive facilities are renovated for handicapped persons. Mermaid's works
with an active wheel chair using instructor (Mark became an instructor in
2004 within Mermaid's CDC Internship) building on the IAHD program
allowing a very precise and accurate perspective on the sensitivities and
special requirements of a handicapped diver. Mark, takes the experience over
and above the perceived "simulation" experience.

Pattaya's ONLY
Dive
Resort Business Management Training course (BMT) - specifically designed for
those wishing to learn all of the facets of the dive industry. The dive
center management program is designed for those that wish for a scuba diving
industry job at the management level.

Mermaids has very healthy business but small class sizes. Dive
classes are kept to to low diver / instructor ratios unless they
need to be for training purposes. Small
dive training classes are standard with One-to-One
dive training available on request.

Mermaids appreciate that some divers head for colder climes and hence have
the PADI Dry-Suit
divers course to help prepare you.
