November 2005 -
Similan & Surin Islands - Thailand
The November 2005 scuba dive live-aboard trip
to the Similan and Surin Islands on the west coast of Thailand and the Andaman
Sea. Always a superb
trip. The attendees of this dive holiday - (Click a name to see a picture):
JD
(2nd Trip), Stuart
(3rd Trip),
Dave H (2nd Trip), Aine (3rd Trip),
Doug B (2nd Trip), Kevin
M, Stephan, JJ (3rd
Trip), Pj (13th Trip:-),
Phil F,
Gaz,
Garry, Mark L (Airpig),
Crowley,
Nick,
Ryan P (left), Jules (3rd Trip) and a lovely English couple, Paul and
Teresa. Captain
Khun Poo and Divemaster
Khun "A"
assisted with some superb service (as always).
All of the usual and even unusual sites were
dived - we dove Anita's Reef, Boulder City, Garden Of Eden, Honeymoon Bay,
Elephant Head Rock (Hin Hua Chang), Rocky Point, the Hideaway, Koh Bon, Koh
Tachai, Richelieu Rock, and Koh Bon Pinnacle etc...
As well as the great diving we saw many
whales at the surface whilst traveling between islands (especially the Similans
and Koh Bon), many dolphins at the surface and also a juvenile Manta feeding at
the surface of the water.
Enjoy some pics - each open in a new window
if you click them....
All of the decent pictures courtesy of
'Crowley'.

Underwater Love as Faith No More would say. |
Stingrays laying on the bottom in the sand is
a very common sight. |

| Banner or Moorish Idol ? :-) |
So many reef fish eating away at the algae on
the coral and even the corals themselves. |
JD looking at a stone fish amongst the reef
fish -bet you cannot see the stone fish! |

Turtles have the life of riley... |

 |
| This octopus was very well camouflaged. |
It changed colour to a little back ... |
... then sped off faster than the camera
could see. |

The guys heading for the beach. |
Sunset is often quite pleasant - just a pity
that I am not a better photographer! |

Of course our crew leant a help in hand
though. |
Pig's 100th dive - cause for a celebration,

| Fish cohabiting in the corals. |
You calling me a puff? |
Crown of thorns - dangerous to the touch but
pleasing to the eye. |

Rock. |

 |
|
| I have my suspicions but
do you think that Crowley enjoyed the night dive? |
No trip would be complete
without the night on the town in Phuket / Patong. Great fun ... |
... But that is another
story, eh Pig? ... |
