IDC and IE Pattaya Thailand Mermaids CDC, Pattaya, Jomtien, Thailand has
been in operation since 1991. An IDC center since 1991 and a CDC
(Career Development Center) since 1995. Stephen Blumenthal has taught in
the area of 1000 dive instructors, many of whom work and live or even own
dive shops a We operate Divemaster and Instructor traineeships with the instructor being the most popular. The interns come for a length of 3 - 6 months (sometimes more - yes all of you guys!!!)...Basically, the IDC begins with a couple of days of last minute exam and presentation preparation, then the "fun" begins. No one with dedication should be intimidated by the IDC and the IE (instructor Exam) - as long as the ground work has been laid (as we ensure) and the dedication is there then there is nothing to be worried about - although try telling the candidates that during the 7 days of exams and tests :-) The interns on the January 2005 IDC in Pattaya, Thailand were a great bunch of dive students - do we ever have any other kind? From Left to right we have (bottom row) Stu, Thore, Dee, Lucy (Lucy Testimonial) and (top row left to right) Derek (sorry no decent - literally decent photos), Jase, Will and Jeremy - The Instructor examiner for Asia said that these guys were the best prepared and trained students that he has had the pleasure to work with - now that's an accolade! All of the hard work paid off with high scores for exams and presentations alike - sailing through the prep, the IDC and then onto the big 2 days of the I.E. The I.E consists of a set of examinations which we get you to know standing on your head - water skills and demonstrations to instructor standard and then some presentations. Here are just a few photos from the IDC and the IE from the guys and gals participating and of course the huge party after that always draws a crowd of 40 - 60 people.
