New Mermaids Dive Center Pattaya, Beach Road Thailand
Predominantly based in Soi Whitehouse, Jomtien Beach, Mermaids has established as a dive center leader but also into a dive institution. Mermaids have recreational divers enjoying diving world wide due to great training but also professional divers working globally in dive jobs due to Mermaids dive career development. Very much of Mermaids' divers and repeat divers have bee through word of mouth and good experiences with us. 2008, is the beginning if a new chapter in Mermaids Dive Centers' arriving 2nd decade. Tuesday 1st July 2008 saw the opening of the Mermaids Pattaya Dive Center. As well as a well stocked dive retail outlet it will act as a meeting point and dive information center for scuba divers in Pattaya. Peter Thorand Director and VP Community Affiliated Membership
and Charter President of The RC Taksin Pattaya opened the New Pattaya
Beach road Center with a speech and cutting the ribbon. Peter's speech was
moving - "I welcome everyone here today, to this important event which
has a big impact to this town and our community. Steve and the Mermaid Diving Center has
always being a great supporter for community projects not only for the visiting
US Navy Ships but they support any good cause in our Community. The new Management has informed me that they will follow this well path and they are committed to do what ever is required to offer the best service to visit lots in the diving societies, and will continue to be a household name for scuba divers around the world. Mermaids are providing top dive services in all aspects of the diving industries and in the same time they are much concerned about our environment and have demonstrated this by their commitment to hold clean up's on the popular diving sites around our area. This trend will continue just like in the past. I wish the Mermaid Dive Center a prosperous business year with huge success." Peter cut the ceremonial ribbon to the new dive center which was appreciated by all of the staff at Mermaids happy to do anything to assist the US Navy league and friends in Pattaya and surrounding community. A great day was had by all - Notable local press such as Pattaya Mail Newspaper, Pattaya People - from the scuba diving community Bruce Knoneffe (renowned Cave Diver and Cavern Diver), Joe Keiser of PERT (Professional Emergency Response Team) and many others from local dive centers and further a field.

Mermaids
PADI CDC (PADI Career Development Center) has been offering PADI daily dive
trips to divers, dive courses to tourists and many other dive services in
Pattaya / Jomtien for the best part of 2 decades. Professional diver training
became a large integral part of Mermaids Dive Center business when it became an
one of the first IDC's (Scuba Diving Instructor Development Center)
locally in Pattaya in the early 90's. Steve Blumenthal a co-founder, Managing
Director of Mermaids steered Mermaids into directions off of the usual beaten
path of a dive center with being a fore-runner in technical dive services, disabled led
diving access and training, and of course the scuba diving internships that are
main stream today. Steve's personal achievements astounded many by being the
world's youngest PADI Course Director globally at his time of certification and
much hard personal dedicated work towards local charities, fund raising issues
and free training for certain Thai institutions.
My
involvement with Mermaids Dive Center goes back to the time when Khun Steve
Blumnethal, a friend of mine and many people in Pattaya was at the helm and
steering wheel of this Company. We all miss him since him since he pased away
too early for all of us.
