Mermaids Coral Reef Clean Up Projects
For the month of July Mermaids has two coral reef clean ups. The first is the 9th July and the second on the 24th July. This coincides with the new launch coming of the Coral Reef Check program later in July (A lot more details to follow - watch for the updates). Trying to find ways to survey the local reefs and ensure that we have data to support any changes either declining or for the better in the local reefs so that we can use this as a measure to act. Regular Reef Cleanup sessions and the Reef Check Study are also a very good way to raise local awareness.
The first two reef clean-ups this month in July are open to all that wish to participate. Divers are very helpful but also non-divers are welcome to join in. For more experienced divers we like to employ the use of heavy duty lift rigging for the larger objects. Some times there are tires, anchors or other very heavy objects to be lifted. Removing these from the area takes a good amount of skill along with the correct dive training to ensure success and safety. Dates and Times:
