Mermaid's Underwater Treasure Hunt November 2005

As usual we had some great prizes or the Mermaid's Underwater Treasure Hunt, Pattaya, Thailand - This the 12th annual Treasure Hunt for Mermaid's was very special.Just some of the many Mermaid's CDC Treasure Hunt Prizes! Prizes came from a whole host of sponsors with everything from underwater torches, diners, mask and fins, BCD, dive manuals, back packs, CD manuals, Similan Live-Aboard trips, hotel vouchers, bungee jumps, swimming with dolphin and shark vouchers, drinks vouchers, tea makers, tailored trousers and shirts to trips to other provinces...Really as very special set of prizes indeed.

The prizes were laid out by Stu McCash along with Rodders, Snowball, T-1000 and Wingnut - all of whom have just completed their ERDI course (Emergency Response Diver International). The corresponding numbers for the prizes were laced inside small Chinese style pots and taken to the dive site. Stu oversaw the placing of the pots under rocks and behind corals etc on the Friday prior to the treasure hunt. The first day was held on Saturday 19th November at the dive site, Koh Nok. The divers are each allowed to surface with two treasure pots with prizes. These are to be kept by them until the prize draw at the end of the day.

The Captain's Corner was the venue for the prize award to the divers - and a good meal and award it was too with the local press in presence to note all of the happenings.

The following day the boat returned to Koh Nok for a further scout for the remaining prizes. The big prizes such as the BCD and the Similans Trip managed to escape capture until the Sunday. Many more prizes were found but all left over were offered out in a lucky dip to all of those that attended the treasure hunt - all won prizes. Congratulations to Gary P who won the Similans Live-aboard trip and the Buddy BCD and also Sander who won the BCD. Great prizes for two great guys.

Below are a few pics of the guys and the prize awards - what will you win when you take part? ...
